Shizuka Sakaki (坂木しずか(さかきしずか) Sakaki Shizuka) is one of the main characters of the SHIROBAKO anime series.

Appearance

Shizuka has quite wavy, hip-length red hair that is tied into a messy bun. Her eyes are sky blue.

She is often seen with a turquoise jacket and a white shirt underneath. She also wears a dark pink skirt that reaches her waist. She also wears brown heels and white socks.

Personality

I would choose to stay. I mean, it's hard to get a job, right? ~ Episode 10, when Misa is asking Shizuka's comment on quitting her job.

Shizuka has a hardworking personality and maintains a calm demeanour even when stressed. This is seen when she failed on her auditions but still tried to stay positive. She also has a low alcohol tolerance.

She dreams of becoming a professional voice actress. She is a voice actress at Aka Oni Productions. She was serious about becoming a voice actress even at high school. In the manga, she couldn't join Aoi and Ema in the animation club, because they weren't serious enough. But after joining the club when she saw Ema's drawings, she couldn't leave for everyone's sake.

Background

Shizuka decided to be a voice actress when she was a student in Kaminoyama High School, even before she joined the animation club. She first rejected Aoi Miyamori's invitation to the animation club because she didn't believe that Aoi was serious. However, when she saw Ema Yasuhara's painting, she has trusted them.

Shizuka has been a voice actress after graduating from Kaminoyama High School. She also works part-time as a waitress at Matsutei, a traditional Japanese bar. However, Shizuka's career path doesn't go well, leaving her without any voice acting work for long stretches of time.

When in Third Aerial Girls Squad, she attended the audition to get the role of Aria but failed. Growing increasingly depressed in the face of more rejection, she was finally cast as a character named Lucy, who is Aria's sister.

One of her friends is Mari Tateo, who is also in Aka Oni Productions. Shizuka usually talks with her when struggling with her work.
